hello all ... i really don't know German ... so i will have to write in english

ok ... i'm from romania and i have a Skoda Octavia 1.9TDI/66kW ... it's something that i wanted to buy

The thing is that i want a better performance from it right now ... and i would like to know what can i do to the car ... to make it faster ... to increase the kW, torque ... and stuff...

I have to say that i'm very proud of my car ... and i would not like to change it for something faster ...
I only want to get the best of it ... so please help me

first of all a big "Hello" to Rumania!!!
maybe you heard of chip Tuning allready... That's the only - and easiest - way to do that.
For your (also mine) Octavia there are many possibilities do get more performance..
First the expensiest way is to reprogram the orginial chip in the car... The problem is that the motor control unit has to be sent to a dealer...

The easiest way is to take a chip box also called speed box or something like that...
They cost from 8m ROL to 24m ROL. They have to be switched in the original cable for the motor managment..
As brand I could prefer Authal
The tuning is made in an quarter hour by yourself and could be easily removed if it has to.

In Germany or Austria it is illegal to one such a box which is not federaly checked in your car. Also in Austria there are problems with the tax (which is beeing calculated from the kw)

.... yes ... ok ... the chiptuning was the first thing i would do ... the thing is that in romania we DO NOT HAVE a DYNOMETER for the proper chiptuning ... so i will have to buy a custom made for Octaiva!!!!

... but i was thinking... something like ... changing the hole exhaust system ... taking out the cat ... would that help me ... ??? what brands are best suited for skoda ... air filteZ ... cold air intakes system ... blow off valves ... but i don not know ... what brands ... and if they would do anything to my car !!!!

First the exhaust system would'nt do anything to increase the power for a TDI, also the Air Filter only give you a 2% Boost... The best thing is - as told - such a box... The blow off ventils are also not usefull in TDI's they only work with gasoline machines...

If they are not available in rumania I could arange a post delivery to rumania for you

ok ... in here there are companies that do chiptuning ... and stuff like this ... but the thing is ... they are not trustey ... because of the dynometer wich does not exist, so you can not tune it properly and ... check if you have that much horses extra ... they usually trick you ... this is the bad thing ...

but there are companies which bring chips ... dedicated ... and i think i will do like this! ... anyway ... thanks very much! ...

Hi Polifem,
while we still had our old Golf3 TDI 66KW i've been looking for a good increase for that engine and found http://www.wendland-tuning.de .
But the car never came to there, Volkswagen fooled around, but thats another story.

Wendland offer performance upgrades for Dieselengines up to 147kW from every 1.9L based TDI-Engine.
They modify the Turbo use Chips, build in new Gearboxes and other stuff.
I think the prices are quite reasonable.

Okay, its very far away for you.
But maybe you can find a tuner in Romania or in an country next to you that can contact them.
